Dear friends,
I wanted to write a note about something that feels both hard and necessary.
I’ve just turned on paid subscriptions here on Substack. It’s something I’ve thought about for a long time — not to put content behind a paywall, but as a quiet ask for support.
So much of what I share — the poetry, the ideas, the images, the art — I want to remain accessible to everyone. This project has never been about exclusivity. It’s always been about connection.
Over time, fossilisedflowers has grown into something far beyond me. I’ve heard from so many of you that these small offerings bring a bit of light to your day. I can’t tell you how much that means.
But I also want to be honest: I lost my job recently. I’m raising two small kids, living with extended family, and trying to hold it all together — while dreaming about the very real possibility of doing this full time.
I have no staff, no assistant, no editor — just me, carving out time late at night or early in the morning to make something tender, thoughtful, and worth your time. It’s love, but it’s also labor.
If this work has made your own life more livable, more bearable, more beautiful, please consider supporting it through a paid subscription — $8 a month or $80 a year (or more, if you feel moved to become a founding member). It would mean the world to me. It would help me keep going and allow me to give even more of myself — here and on Instagram.
If you do choose to become a paid subscriber, your support will be received with deep gratitude. But I want to be clear: I won’t be creating exclusive content for paid subscribers. Everyone will always have access to the same writing. I just hope, if you’re able, you’ll help sustain it.
If you’re considering becoming a paid subscriber, here’s what you’ll receive:
✨ My deepest gratitude for supporting this work while everything remains free for everyone
✨ Giveaways featuring my favorite books, journals, stationery, and objects
✨ Monthly postcards from me, handwritten with a small gift tucked inside
It’s not about more content — it’s about sustaining the kind of space we’re already building together.
And just to give you a sense of what’s coming up:
✨ A list of the newsletters I subscribe to and actually look forward to
✨ How to create a vision board that feels like you — and the tools I use
✨ Essays I think everyone should read (with links!)
✨ A peek into how I’ve set up my creative ecosystem — from tools to rhythms to rituals
With love & gratitude,
Dhivya
@fossilisedflowers

I appreciate what you do Dhivya. I hope you manage to get the financial support you need to go full time! 🤞
